Designs are discussed in a planning session. Illustrations and photos are available to look at. The next step is to choose the glass colours and textures. A pattern is drawn up for viewing before we go ahead with the leadlight project.
Repairs
A leadlight panel with broken pieces of glass can be repaired. The broken glass pieces are removed, new glass pieces cut to fit, then soldered, puttied and polished. If the exact same glass cannot be found, the pattern may be altered to use a different glass.
Restorations
Old leadlight panels can be restored to their former glory. The panel is disassembled, removing all lead and saving the glass pieces. The glass pieces are cleaned, then reassembled with new lead, soldered, puttied and polished.
